This is a calligraphy workshop by Dao Huy Hoang, which is always well-received each time we host it.
For this visit to Japan, we offer a two-day lesson exploring the beauty of historical French calligraphy. Let's discover two representative scripts (hands) that developed between the 16th and 18th centuries.
On November 20th, we will learn "Italienne Bastarde," a unique French interpretation of the Italian cursive tradition that blends the elegance of Italian handwriting with the distinct character of French calligraphy.
With its lively rhythm, slanted forms, expressive strokes, and flowing connections, this script offers plenty of room for personal expression while maintaining the strong foundation of the traditional Italian hand.
*This lesson will include Japanese interpretation.

An artist who pays homage to his roots and constantly pursues and refines his artistry, as the grandson of a visual artist specializing in French, Vietnamese, and Chinese calligraphy. In addition to his work as a calligraphy artist, he expands his range of expression across three overlapping areas of fine art: pen making, lacquer crafts, and calligraphy.
