This course allows you to solidly acquire the basics of modern calligraphy through monthly in-person lessons and corrections over six months with Risa Kadono, a certified calligrapher of the Japan Modern Calligraphy Association. You will review the content of each lesson, and the submitted correction assignments will be returned with advice.
This is a certified course by the Japan Modern Calligraphy Association. In the lessons, you will learn based on Miki Shimano's Shirahana lettering.
Those who complete this Basic course and submit their correction assignments can advance to the Advanced course, scheduled to open in January 2027.
Those who complete the Advanced course will be certified as "Junior Scriptor" by the Japan Modern Calligraphy Association.

Lesson 1: What is modern calligraphy? (Practice methods, strokes, etc.)
Lesson 2: Lowercase letters and numbers
Lesson 3: Uppercase letters and symbols
Lesson 4: Practice connecting letters and pangrams

Lesson 6: Phrase layout and artwork creation

【Risa KADONO Calligraphy Profile】
From childhood to university, she attended calligraphy classes and was familiar with handwriting, and encountered calligraphy through her own wedding.
While working as a calligraphy instructor, she creates artworks and has a track record of winning art contests and holding solo exhibitions.
She is widely active in PR hand-lettering for major domestic and international companies, luxury brands, and place card hand-lettering.
