【DAIKANYAMA drawing】Maki Shimada - Calligram Dialogue with Glass Inkstone and Ink 10/21

This is a collaborative workshop with calligrapher/shodo artist Maki Shimano and Glass Studio TooS. Participants will carefully grind ink while engaging in self-reflection and create their own calligram artwork based on a theme-appropriate design.

This is an exclusive collaboration with Glass Studio TooS, and only those selected by pre-event lottery can participate. This special workshop includes a portable glass inkstone, a unique ink-rest made of glass, and a limited edition glass pen from the CHESS series, all bundled as a special set.

Maki Shimano Profile

Calligrapher/Shodo Artist
Began practicing calligraphy at age 5. After graduating from university, joined Plan・Do・See Inc. While working in bridal services, she was also involved in store logos and designs, where she encountered calligraphy.
After marriage and childbirth, she became an independent artist. She expresses a unique interpretation of the fusion of Japanese and Western calligraphy, elevating it to art. Her works have been displayed overseas.
She handles event calligraphy for luxury brands, sales of collaborative products with companies, and supervision of educational materials.
