【DAIKANYAMA drawing】Belinda Chim - Flourishing Basics 10/7

*This lesson is for experienced calligraphers.

This is a beginner's flourishing workshop by Macanese calligrapher Belinda Chim.
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of calligraphy flourishing that can be used for both lowercase and uppercase letters.
You will acquire techniques for elegant flourishing that beautifully enhances your lettering.

In the lesson, we will focus on building a solid foundation, developing light brushstrokes, and correcting common mistakes early on.

・Basic techniques for starting lowercase and uppercase flourishing
・How to draw and correct simple, basic flourishes
・Tips for creating harmony between flourishes and letters
・Techniques for lighter and more controllable strokes

*This workshop will be held in English with Japanese interpretation.

Belinda Chim Profile

Belinda Chim is a calligrapher based in Macau.
She began her creative work in 2013 and continues to explore traditional calligraphy techniques, specializing in formal scripts of Western traditional calligraphy such as Engrosser's Script and Spencerian Script.

Her creative work is greatly influenced by her plant-centric lifestyle and lifelong deep affection for animals. Working in a lush green studio, she creates nature-themed works by blending calligraphy with hand-drawn illustrations.
Many of her works utilize "pictorial calligraphy" and "calligrams" to express letters pictorially, beautifully integrating words and animal motifs through fluid flourishing and scrollwork.

In addition to collaborating with luxury brands and creating bespoke pieces, she is also an active educator, having taught calligraphy to thousands of students worldwide.
Through workshops and the development of original calligraphy supplies, she continues to convey calligraphy not only as a high art form but also as a mindful practice for calming the mind.
