I believe that letters are like a mirror of ourselves, reflecting our hearts and lifestyles. Using tools handed down since ancient times in Japan, such as brushes, washi paper, and ink, we can carefully face our own letters and ourselves as writers.

We hope that such time, which has become precious in modern society, will become a time for careful learning in each of our lives.

Calligraphy lessons (brush calligraphy, small brush calligraphy, kana) consist of one face-to-face lesson and one correspondence correction session per month, and lessons are based on three different models written by Professor Misono each month.
In order to provide appropriate instruction according to each student's level, this school has adopted the rank system of the calligraphy association called the Oriental Calligraphy Art Association, of which Professor Bien is a member.
You can start at 10th grade and work your way up to master level.

Brush: 4-6 characters on paper (large brush)
Kana: Hiragana and its original variants written with a small brush. Hard pen: Ballpoint pen writing.

【What to bring】
Calligraphy set (large brush, small brush, writing paper, ink, paperweight, inkstone, writing pad, brush roll), hard writing paper, water-based ballpoint pen
* If you do not have any tools, you can purchase a set of calligraphy tools selected by Bien Sensei. We will contact you separately if you have applied for a lesson.
* Hanshi paper and hard writing paper can also be purchased on the day.

Morning class: 10:30-12:30 / Afternoon class: 14:00-16:00

・Promotion exams are held three times a year (April, July, October) *Only for those who wish to take them

Profile of Mien Saito

Her job is to write and teach beautiful characters. She runs the Bien Calligraphy School. She has been familiar with calligraphy since she was a child, and her motto is "Writing characters carefully and beautifully is the same as grooming yourself," and she strives every day to explain beautiful handwriting in an easy-to-understand way.
Her books include "Penmanship Lessons for Beautiful and Loved Handwriting, with a Magical Workbook You Can Use Again and Again!" (MDN Corporation).
