Shiho Sakurai - Botanical Illustration Watercolor Basic Course (Spring/Summer Class) May-September 2026 (5 sessions total)

brush brush - A monthly beginner-level watercolor botanical illustration lesson taught by Shiho Sakurai. This is the registration page for the Basic Course Spring/Summer Class.

The Spring/Summer class consists of 5 sessions, culminating in the creation of an original stamp using a motif of your choice.
Even if you are new to illustration, please feel free to join. We will carefully guide each individual, offering advice on key points for drawing flowers and botanical patterns, and tips for selecting the right angle and achieving good balance.

【Curriculum】
Session 1: Peony (Watercolor techniques, how to use tools, coloring)
Session 2: Poppy, Turkish Eustoma
Session 3: Lily, Lavender
Session 4: Cosmos, Gentian
Session 5: Free assignment (Stamp design)

*For first-time participants, Session 1 will start with tracing a pre-printed sketch on watercolor paper.
*The botanical illustration you complete in Session 5 will be processed into stamp data and provided to you. (You will be responsible for printing the stamps yourself.)

Saturday Class (10:30-12:30): 5/23, 6/27, 7/25, 8/29, 9/26

【Eligibility】Open to everyone
【First session belongings】Mechanical pencil, eraser, bag for carrying tools (A watercolor tool set will be provided in the first session, please bring it from the second session onwards.)
*From the second session onwards, please bring the tool set provided in the first session.

Shiho Sakurai Profile

Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture. After working as an art teacher and in product development for baby goods, she became an independent freelancer.
She creates works incorporating hand-drawn illustrations and hand lettering, and in addition to original items, she also handles logos and textile designs.
