[DAIKANYAMA drawing] Shoko Harada - Calligraphy and Pictorial Art with Washi Paper 10/16・10/23

This is a Mojie workshop with calligrapher/script designer Shoko Harada.

Mojie is a traditional Japanese art form in which characters are combined to create pictures of people, animals, landscapes, and more.
It was particularly popular during the Edo period and developed into a culture that combined playfulness with design.

In the workshop, taking inspiration from this concept, participants will use a small brush to freely combine alphabet letters and Japanese characters to create collage works that resemble pictures.

*This workshop will be held in English with Japanese interpretation.

Shoko Harada Profile

Calligrapher/Script Designer
Born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. Grew up in Yokohama and California, USA. Graduated from Kanazawa College of Art, Department of Design. After working as an art director/graphic designer for a major department store, she became independent. Her activities focus on providing designs to companies, supervising products, and teaching. With the concept of "new ways to enjoy Japanese language," she conveys Japanese culture through a calligraphic style that blends Japanese and Western elements, drawing on her experience living abroad.
